Krispy Kreme is tapping into sweet nostalgia to celebrate PAC-MAN's 45th anniversary.
In collaboration with Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc., the beloved doughnut brand is launching a limited-edition PAC-MAN collection, along with a giveaway of free doughnuts, the company announced in a press release Monday.
Krispy Kreme debuts doughnuts with mini Pop-Tarts in 3 different flavorsBeginning May 12, participating Krispy Kreme locations across the U.S. will offer three new PAC-MAN-themed doughnuts, all packaged in a custom, game-inspired dozen box.
The collection includes the PAC-MAN Party Doughnut, filled with yellow buttercream-flavored icing, topped with celebration sprinkles and a PAC-MAN piece.
Meanwhile, TEAM GHOST Doughnut is filled with chocolate Kreme, dipped in black icing, decorated like a maze, and finished with a Team Ghosts topper.
The third item in the lineup is the Strawberry Power Berry Doughnut, which features strawberry-flavored Kreme, red icing, white sprinkles and a green icing leaf.
"These all-new PAC-MAN doughnuts are sweetest in multi-player mode. So, press start on a dozen and chomp on a maze of flavors with family, friends and coworkers," Krispy Kreme Chief Growth Officer Dave Skena said in a statement. "Partnering with Bandai Namco and PAC-MAN is a new high score of sweetness."
To mark the milestone, Krispy Kreme is also offering several celebratory deals.
From May 12-18, guests can receive one free Original Glazed doughnut during Hot Light hours -- 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., or whenever the Hot Light is on -- with a limit of one per guest per day, in-shop or via drive-thru.
If fans help Krispy Kreme reach its goal of 45,000 doughnuts given away, the doughnut and coffeehouse chain said it will bring back its popular Strawberry Glazed Doughnut, last offered in August 2023.
From May 12-14, Krispy Kreme will also turn its Doughnut Dots into "Pac-Dots" and give away a free 10-count of Dots with the purchase of any dozen at regular price.
On May 22, PAC-MAN's official birthday, customers can get a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for just 25 cents with the purchase of any dozen at regular price.
