Celebrities from across the entertainment world are sharing tributes and remembrances for legendary actor Robert Redford, who died on Tuesday morning at 89.
Stars like Jane Fonda, Meryl Streep and more are honoring Redford's massively successful career which saw Oscars, era-defining films and box office smashes including "The Sting," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and "All the President's Men."
Tune in to "Robert Redford: The Life and Legacy of an American Icon -- A Special Edition of '20/20'" on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 10 p.m. ET on ABC and streaming the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
Redford was also known for his activism as an environmentalist and supporter of independent filmmakers, as well as being an outspoken advocate of progressive politics and civil rights.

Redford's "All The President's Men" co-star Dustin Hoffman issued a statement on Wednesday remembering the actor. The pair starred as opposite each other in the 1976 film as Bob Woodward (Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Hoffman), the reporters who uncovered the Watergate scandal.
"Working with Redford on 'All the President’s Men' was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. He was that rare person where what you see is what you get: the decency he projected in his movies was genuine. I’ll miss him," the 88-year-old wrote.
"One of the lions has passed. Rest in peace my lovely friend," actress Meryl Streep said in a statement shared with ABC News. Streep and Redford starred in the romance film "Out of Africa" together in 1985.
Barbra Streisand, who co-starred with Redford in 1973's "The Way We Were," remembered Redford in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
"Every day on the set of The Way We Were was exciting, intense and pure joy," Streisand said in the post.
"The last time I saw him, when he came to lunch, we discussed art and decided to send each other our first drawings," she wrote. "He was one of a kind and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him."
Journalist Bob Woodward paid tribute to Robert Redford in a lengthy statement published to social media on Tuesday. In the tribute, Woodward called Redford -- who played the Washington Post reporter in "All The President's Men" -- "a noble and principled force for good who fought successfully to find and communicate the truth."
"He will be remembered as one of the great storytellers in our country's history," Woodward wrote . He also shared quotes of Redford's that he had collected through several interviews over the last 10 years, sharing the actor's views on the current state of the nation among other topics.
"I loved him, and admired him -- for his friendship, his fiery independence, and the way he used any platform he had to help make the world better, fairer, brighter for others," Woodward wrote in the caption of his post.
Actress Jane Fonda remembered her long-time friend and co-star in a statement Tuesday morning, sharing her emotional response to the death of Redford.
"It hit me hard this morning when I read that Bob was gone. I can't stop crying," the actress said. "He meant a lot to me and was a beautiful person in every way. He stood for an America we have to keep fighting for."
The pair starred together in several films throughout their careers, including 1967's "Barefoot in the Park" and 2017's "Our Souls at Night."
President Donald Trump remembered Redford while addressing a group of reporters outside of the White House on Tuesday.
"That's a good way to go I guess," Trump said in response to news that Redford died in his sleep. "Robert Redford was great. He had a series of years that there was nobody better."
"There was a period of time when he was the hottest. I thought he was great," he added.
Actress Demi Moore posted a sentimental Instagram tribute to Redford on Tuesday, along with a clip from her and the late actor's romance movie "Indecent Proposal."
"The world has lost an incredible actor, director, husband, father, friend," Moore wrote. "Robert’s legacy will live on forever in so many ways and I will carry the many memories we share close to my heart. What I would do for just one more dance."
Along with the message, Moore posted a clip of her dancing with Redford in the film about an indecent love affair gone wrong.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis took to Instagram, sharing a photo of Redford along with a message.
"A LIFE! FAMILY• ART• TRANSFORMATION • ADVOCACY• CREATION• LEGACY Thank you Robert Redford," she wrote.
The Sundance Institute, which Redford founded in 1980 to support independent filmmakers, shared a statement remembering their founder on Tuesday morning.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our founder and friend Robert Redford. Bob's vision of a space and a platform for independent voices launched a movement that, over four decades later, has inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema in the U.S. and around the world," the statement read in part.
"Beyond his enormous contributions to culture at large, we will miss his generosity, clarity of purpose, curiosity, rebellious spirit, and his love for the creative process. We are humbled to be among the stewards of his remarkable legacy, which will continue to guide the Institute in perpetuity," it continued.
Actor Colman Domingo posted a tribute to Redford on social media writing in his Instagram story, "With love and respect. His impact is everlasting."
Major League Baseball paid tribute to Redford on Tuesday posting an image of the actor along with a message referencing his role in a classic 1984 baseball movie.
"We're deeply saddened by the passing of Robert Redford, the iconic actor who played Roy Hobbs in the legendary baseball film 'The Natural,'" the league wrote on social media. "Redford, who was a Red Sox fan, will forever be remembered for giving us one of the greatest baseball characters in movie history."
