Lollapalooza confirmed to return this summer

WATCH: Will the Lollapalooza show go on?

Lollapalooza is officially on for 2021.

The festival, founded by Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell, is confirmed to take place this year from July 29 to Aug. 1 at its usual site of Chicago's Grant Park.

Lolla 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was replaced by a streaming event featuring a mix of new and archived performances.

"Here in Chicago, the word 'Lollapalooza' has always been synonymous with summer, great music and four days of unforgettable fun -- which made last year's decision to postpone it all the more difficult," said Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot in a statement.

It’s happening. @Lollapalooza returns.

In alignment with our public health guidance, the world class festival returns to the city later this summer. However, full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test will be required to enjoy the festivities.

"Now, less than a year later and armed with a vaccine that is safe, effective and widely available, we are able to bring back one of our city's most iconic summer music festivals," the statement continued. "I want to thank the Lollapalooza team for working closely with the City to create a reopening strategy that prioritizes safety and can’t wait to see festivalgoers return to Grant Park this summer."

Attendees must receive full COVID-19 vaccination or obtain a negative COVID-19 test result to attend the festival, according to a press release.

If you are not fully vaccinated, you must obtain a negative COVID-19 test result within 24 hours of attending the festival. Lollapalooza said it will release more details on entering the festival in early July.
