Academy will now allow performances of all 5 nominated songs

WATCH: Oscars 2019 biggest snubs and surprises

Following backlash from a report that it was only planning to allow performances of Lady Gaga's hit "Shallow" and Kendrick Lamar's song "All the Stars" on this year's Oscars telecast, the Motion Picture Academy announced it will go ahead with performances of all five nominated songs, according to Variety.

On Thursday, the Academy tweeted that Jennifer Hudson would perform "I'll Fight," the Diane Warren-penned nominated song featured in the documentary "RBG," and later added that the nominated song "The Place Where Lost Things Go," from "Mary Poppins Returns," would be performed by a "special surprise guest."
