Sabrina Carpenter made a bold return to the Met Gala on May 5, embracing this year's theme with a playful twist.
Fresh off a career-defining year that included two Grammy wins and the breakout success of her album "Short n' Sweet," the pop star hit the Met's iconic steps in a merlot pin-striped bodysuit and cropped Louis Vuitton blazer designed by Pharrell Williams, who has served as the men's creative director for Louis Vuitton since 2023.
The best looks from the 2025 Met Gala red carpetCarpenter's ensemble Monday night featured glittering buttons, a crisp white collar and a dramatic train. But the standout detail? The complete lack of trousers.
"This is Pharrell," Carpenter told Vogue on the red carpet, crediting the musician and record producer -- who was also named one of this year's Met Gala co-chairs -- for the look. "He said, 'You're quite short, so no pants for you.' So, here we are."
Carpenter completed her outfit with layers of diamond jewelry, including rings, necklaces and an anklet.
To top it off, she wore what she called her "super-high shoes," telling Vogue the chunky platform pumps were "a staple for me in my life."
Though Monday marked Carpenter's third appearance at fashion's biggest night, she said her outfit for this year's gala may have solved a longstanding red carpet challenge.
"Never been to the bathroom once," she joked. "Tonight might be the night. We'll see."
