Jane Fonda rewears timeless look for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards

WATCH: The biggest moments from the 2021 Golden Globe Awards

Jane Fonda has been known to make a powerful statement, and her latest look at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards spoke volumes.

The legendary actress and activist attended this year's ceremony wearing a cream-toned suit paired with metallic Sarah Flint pointy-toe pumps that was equal parts sophisticated and chic.

While Fonda most likely has access to the latest designer looks straight off the runway, she opted for a timeless ensemble that was pulled out of her own closet.

"Well, I prefer this kind of outfit than getting dressed up," Fonda said in a previous interview with The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

She continued, "I vowed a couple of years ago I would never buy any new clothes again. We spend too much money, we buy too many things, and then we get rid of them. We try to develop our identity by shopping, right? We gotta stop that. Stop all this consumerism."

A woman of her word, this actually isn't the first time the movie star recycled a red carpet look. For the 2020 Oscars, Fonda wore the same Elie Saab gown that she first donned at the International Cannes Film Festival in 2014.

Fonda received the Cecil B. Demille Award at this year's show.

She championed diversity in Hollywood in her speech.

"But there's a story we've been afraid to see and hear about ourselves in this industry," she said. "A story about which voices we respect and elevate and which we tune out. A story about who's offered a seat at the table and who is kept out of the rooms where decisions are made. So let all of us -- including all the groups that decide who gets hired and what gets made and who wins awards -- let all of us make an effort to expand that tent so that everyone rises and everyone's story has a chance to be seen and heard."
