"I think this style is popular because it dresses up a casual look but it also can be worn to a formal event," DiPietro says. "It’s so chic to look like you didn’t try too hard."

The good news: DiPietro thinks this style is "fairly easy" to accomplish on our own. "With beach waves, it's OK to have a little frizz and texture. The more tousled the better!"

Step 1: Prep with heat protectant

"Always prep with a heat protectant! My go-to is Ouai Heat protectant spray," DiPietro says. "Use this on dry hair and spray each section before using hot tools."

Price: $28

Step 2: Start curling

"Start with medium-sized sections for a more loose wave. Using your GHD iron, clamp hair away from the face, twist and pull the iron through the section -- make sure to leave ends out! This is key for a beachy look. Alternate directions of each section for a natural look. If you have wavy hair naturally, randomly pick up sections to wave with iron."

Price: $199 · From Sephora

"This iron is my favorite for creating a beach wave because it’s the perfect sized barrel. It's also so easy to glide through the hair to create waves and stays at the best temperature so it doesn’t damage your hair in the process."

Step 3: Finish with texture spray

"Finish this look with texture spray! The more texture the better!"

FEKKAI Full Blown Volume Dry Texturizer Spray

Price: $24 · From Ulta

"I love the FEKKAI texture spray to finish off a wavey look. Firstly, because it smells amazing and doesn't leave the hair crunchy. It's lightweight and adds the perfect amount of texture on most hair types."
