Best for petities: cropped shearling-style
"When you are petite, like me, a shorter coat is always best so you don't end up with excess fabric that overwhelms your shape," Frank told "GMA." "Cropped styles also help to make your legs appear longer."
She recommends shearling and faux shearling teddy-style coats from brands such as The Arrivals and HiSO if you have a petite frame.

Best for hourglass or pear-shaped bodies: novelty prints
'Tis the season for plaids, checks and houndstooth!
"If you have more of a pear shape or hourglass figure, it is best to cinch and define your waist with a belted coat," said Frank.
She also said there's a "new prep" trend this year for outerwear.

Best for taller people: quilted
"When you are taller, long coats are best because the lower hemlines are proportionate to your height," advised Frank.
She recommends longer puffer styles as they are perfect for layering cozy sweaters or adding drawstrings to cinch your waist.

Franks recommends open front jackets for someone with an apple body as they add long vertical lines.
"I would recommend a neutral colorway like this Anine Bing Hunter Coat [below] for an elevated look," she said. "The collarless nature of this coat doesn't add any extra bulk to your top and the deep-V draws the eye downward, visually slimming you across the bustline. I love the rich brown color as it's easy to incorporate into your daily rotation and a versatile alternative to a black coat."
