Igloo is expanding an earlier voluntary recall of its U.S.-made coolers due to possible amputation and crushing hazards.
The recall, first initiated in February this year, now includes approximately 130,000 additional coolers, as well as approximately 20,000 in Canada and 5,900 in Mexico, the Consumer Product Safety Commission stated this week.
The CPSC originally issued a recall notice for approximately 1,060,000 Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers back on Feb. 13, stating at the time that "the tow handle can pinch consumers' fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards." The agency issued a recall expansion notice on May 8 for the additional Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers, citing similar hazards.
Igloo previously told "Good Morning America" in a statement that the company prioritizes consumer safety and is offering consumers a free replacement handle for recalled coolers.
"With consumer safety as our top priority, we have voluntarily issued a recall on the 90QT Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler and have provided consumers with a proper course of action that includes a free replacement handle," Igloo said at the time. "Through rigorous testing and proactive steps, we are constantly improving our products to meet the highest safety standards."
The recall impacts Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers that were made before January 2024 and sold between January 2019 and January 2025 at retailers across the country, including Costco, Target, Academy and Dick's Sporting Goods, as well as online at Amazon.com, Igloocoolers.com and other websites. Recalled coolers were priced between $80 and $140.
