Raven-Symoné doesn't typically open up about her personal life, but something shifted when she married Miranda Pearman-Maday.
The former "View" co-host told People magazine that because her wedding day was "one of the biggest and happiest of my life," she knew she wanted to share the moment with her fans.
Raven-Symoné announced on social media last month that she and Pearman-Maday, 32, had tied the knot and even shared photos from their nuptials.
"Miranda makes me feel confident and empowered in an entirely new way," she told the magazine. "We planned our ceremony together and it was a true reflection of our love and partnership."
The singer-songwriter and actress, 34, who is coming out with a new album, "The Reintroduction," said that in 2013, during a hiatus from Hollywood, she began to better understand her sexuality. Beforehand, she felt pressure from the entertainment industry to confirm to a certain image.
"I actually had time to think for myself and no one to tell me differently," she said. "It helped me realize that I'm kind of addicted to the industry because of the fact I had been in it for so long. I had to transform that addiction into something that is positive for me because I was getting very toxic to myself and others."
Looking forward, Raven-Symoné, whose given name is Raven-Symoné Pearman, is excited to "make new plans" with Pearman-Maday, whom she called "a brilliant woman."
"We get to create an empire for ourselves," she said. "We get to map out our future in ways that we want."
