Meet the 'American Idol' top 10: Who was eliminated?

Things are heating up on "American Idol" following Monday night's double elimination.

Following the show's "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" episode Sunday night, the competition continued on Monday with the Top 12 performing songs inspired by iconic "American Idol" moments.

"American Idol" season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino was a guest mentor and also took the stage to perform her new single, "Have Your Way."

At the end of the night, Ché Chesterman and Filo were sent home.

Next Sunday, the Top 10 will battle it out for a spot in the Top 8 and sing songs by iconic women in music. Miranda Lambert will serve as a guest mentor.

Then on Monday next week, the competition will continue as America votes for the Top 6. The Top 8 contestants will perform songs secretly selected by judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood.

John Foster, 18

John Foster performed "I Told You So" by Underwood and Randy Travis. Underwood and Travis performed the song on "American Idol" in 2009. It was Foster's first performance without his guitar. Underwood said she was flattered that Foster chose the song, and said that Travis "would approve."

Josh King, 24

Josh King sang Céline Dion's "All by Myself," which was sung by "American Idol" Top 10 finalist Pia Toscano in 2011. King delivered an emotional performance of the song on the piano and brought many to tears. Underwood said King's performance was "beautiful."

Jamal Roberts, 27

Jamal Roberts left the audience speechless when he sang "Heal" by Tom Odell. Richie called his performance "divinely guided."

Mattie Pruitt, 16

Mattie Pruitt sang "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson, who became the first "American Idol" winner in 2002. Bryan said Pruitt did a "great job," and Underwood said Pruitt's voice is just "so stinkin' good."

Thunderstorm Artis, 29

Thunderstorm Artis opted for "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals for his performance. The song was sung by 2011 "American Idol" finalist Haley Reinhart. Barrino was impressed by Artis' rendition and said that she "heard so many different artists that are my favorite in one vocal" in his performance.

Slater Nalley, 17

Slater Nalley took the stage and performed "Angel From Montgomery" by John Prine, which was sung by "American Idol" contestant Megan Danielle in 2023. The judges praised his performance, and Bryan told him to "keep having fun."

Gabby Samone, 22

Gabby Samone sang Donny Hathaway's "A Song For You." The song was performed by Elliott Yamin on season 5 of "American Idol." Samone said it was one of her "favorite versions" of the song. Underwood called her performance "absolute perfection," while Bryan said he was "speechless."

Canaan James Hill, 17

Canaan James Hill sang "Goodness of God" by Cece Winans. The song was performed by Winans and 2024 "American Idol" Top 12 finalist Roman Collins. Richie said Hill's song had "so much feeling and believability." Bryan added, "He baptizes me every time he sings."

Kolbi Jordan, 26

Kolbi Jordan brought Richie, Underwood and Bryan to their feet with her performance of Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow." The song was sung by Katharine McPhee in 2006. Richie lauded Jordan's rendition, saying, "That was divine."

Breanna Nix, 25

Breanna Nix sang "Tell Your Heart to Beat Again" by "American Idol" Top 3 finalist Danny Gokey. Gokey surprised Nix over FaceTime and advised her to "think of the person that needs to hear" the song while she's singing it. Nix's performance brought Jelly Roll, the official "Idol" artist in residence, to tears. Richie said Nix keeps "raising the bar."
