Garth Brooks' new song, "We Belong To Each Other" is an anthem about unity.
The single, which debuted on "Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts' Facebook page, includes the lyrics, "We are sister and brother, born to love one another."
Brooks announced last week on "Good Morning America" that he'd been working on new music, but hadn't revealed what it was about.
"My beloved momma always said, 'everybody’s got something'....whatever your something is that you’re facing I hope this brings you as much comfort as it has for me," Roberts wrote. "My immense gratitude to engineer, Matt Allen, studio manager, Charles Green, the gentleman who mastered it, Eric Conn, everyone who had a part in this and the incomparable Garth Brooks for allowing me to share this gift."
Fans may get to hear him sing it soon. Brooks, 58, announced last week that he will host a concert event at 300 drive-in theaters across North America on June 27. Tickets go on sale on Ticketmaster June 19 and will cost $100, which accounts for one passenger car or SUV.
"This one guy came to me and said, 'Hey, look, we can put 300 drive-in theaters together if you will create a concert solely for the drive-ins. We can have families jump in the car, get them out on Saturday night," Brooks said.
"They're going to run it just like a regular concert, but this is going to be all over North America, one night only," he continued. "We are excited because this is a reason to get out of the house, but at the same time you get to follow all the COVID rules from every individual state and you get to have fun and stay within the guidelines of social distancing. . . . We're calling it 'social distancing partying.'"
