Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson surprised fans by marrying his longtime love, Lauren Hashian, in August, and now he's explaining what took so long for them to say, "I do."
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine Johnson said that his previous divorce made him wary of marriage.
By the time they wed in a secret ceremony in Kauai, Hawaii, Johnson and Hashian had been together for more than a decade and had two children: Jasmine, 3, and Tiana Gia, 1.
"My divorce did a number on me," he said. "I wasn’t fearful of getting married again, there was just some hesitancy. But Lauren was incredibly patient: ‘I love you, you love me, we have this amazing life together -- no presh.’”

Johnson, 47, was previously married to producer Dany Garcia, with whom he has an 18-year-old daughter, Simone. Their 11-year marriage ended in 2007, and he met Hashian soon thereafter.
"Within 30 seconds, I thought, Wow, this girl’s stunning," he said of seeing Hashian for the first time. "At the time, I was going through my breakup with Dany, and she was just coming off a big breakup too. Ironically, when you’re not looking for something, the power of the universe kind of takes over.”
For their nuptials, Johnson, who proposed just three days prior, said that he and Hashian kept things intimate. Only nine adults were present for the ceremony, during which Hashian slipped a gold band, studded with diamonds onto Johnson's finger. Given its size, the actor said that he's having others made that will be easier to work out in.
"One is from a bull’s horn. And the other is from a Tyrannosaurus rex bone," he said. "Pretty cool, right?”
