DJ Khaled says new single 'Higher' to benefit Nipsey Hussle's kids

DJ Khaled is raising money for the late Nipsey Hussle's children, announcing Wednesday night that he's got a benefit single on the way.

"Recently, I embarked on a soul-searching journey down a road I never thought I would travel in a million years," Khaled wrote on Instagram. "It began when a tragedy robbed the world of an enlightened soul, a brother a father, a partner and my friend, Nipsey Hussle."

Khaled's post continues: "Just days prior, he shared his energy and positivity with me on a video set for a song called, 'Higher.' After much prayer and reflection; and with the full blessing of the Asghedom family, I am sharing that moment with you."

Khaled said the very title of the song embodies Hussle and his mission.

"It is in this spirit, of moving forward, of preserving his mission that I, my co-writers, producers and label partners are donating 100% of all our proceeds from 'Higher' to Nipsey's children, Emani and Kross," he added.

No word yet on when "Higher" will drop but Khaled's next album, "Father of Asahd," is due out May 17.

Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was shot and killed March 31 outside of his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles. He was 33.

Thousands attended Hussle's funeral at Staples Center in Los Angeles, including Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder and other icons.
