Blue Ivy Carter receives 1st BET Award nomination

Blue Ivy Carter is a first-time BET nominee.

"Brown Skin Girl" by Beyoncé from "The Lion King: The Gift" soundtrack is nominated for the 2020 BET Her Award. The song features the singer's 8-year-old daughter Blue as well as Wizkid and Saint Jhn.

Other nominees in the category include: "Underdog" by Alicia Keys, "Melanin" by Ciara feat. Lupita Nyong'o, Ester Dean, City Girls & La La, "I Choose" by Layton Greene, "Afeni" by Rapsody feat. PJ Morton and "Tempo" by Lizzo feat. Missy Elliott.

The mother-daughter duo previously won the award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration for "Brown Skin Girl" at the NAACP Image Awards in February.

The song also won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award at the 2019 Soul Train Awards.
