As the first Monday in May draws ever closer, anticipation is heightening over who may be in attendance for fashion's biggest night of the year, the 2025 Met Gala, with particular curiosity surrounding frequent Costume Institute Benefit attendee Blake Lively.
With this year's theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," celebrities in attendance can go a number of different directions for their red carpet looks.
So, will the "Another Simple Favor" actress make her way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the evening of May 5 to try her hand at this year's dress code, "Tailored for You?"
Fans of the actress -- or at least her past lavish looks -- may be out of luck. Lively will not attend this year's Met Gala, according to a People report citing an exclusive source.
"Blake and Ryan haven't gone since 2022, when they were co-chairs, and they will not be in attendance this year," the source reportedly told People.
"Good Morning America" has also reached out to representative for Lively to inquire about her attendance.
Other big-name celebrities have already confirmed their attendance: Vogue previously announced Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour as the 2025 Met Gala co-chairs, with NBA star LeBron James serving as honorary co-chair.
Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively cheer on Wrexham AFC in huge winLively has been a frequent attendee of the Met Gala through the years. She has rocked a few iconic looks at the event, including her pink silk organza Burberry dress in 2016, her draped and feathered Atelier Versace dress in 2017, and her long flowing rose gold gown -- also designed by Atelier Versace -- in 2022, which was inspired by "New York City architecture and the classic buildings," according to her red carpet interview with People that night. (The gown itself opened up to reveal a soft teal-blue train once Lively was on the Met Gala steps.)
Lively has also brought husband Ryan Reynolds along with her to several Met Galas. In 2022, the pair were co-chairs of the event, the theme of which was "In America: An Anthology of Fashion."

Met Gala 2025: 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style' theme, hosts, and moreLively and her former "It Ends With Us" co-star and director Justin Baldoni have been embroiled in a monthslong legal battle that began in December 2024 when Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department accusing him of sexual harassment on the set of the film. (Baldoni has denied the allegation.)
The two launched dueling lawsuits against each other in the weeks that followed. Lively alleged in her lawsuit that Baldoni and key stakeholders in the film sexually harassed her and attempted, along with Baldoni's production company and his crisis PR company, The Agency Group PR, to orchestrate a smear campaign against her.
Baldoni sued Lively, Reynolds, the couple's publicist Leslie Sloane and Sloane's public relations company Vision PR for extortion and defamation, among other things.

The 2025 Met Gala is scheduled to take place May 5, 2025, and the Costume Institute's corresponding fashion exhibit opens to the the public on May 10.
In an Instagram post, Vogue described this year's theme as "examining the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora" with the Black dandy as its subject.
The theme and accompanying Costume Institute exhibition, which were announced in October 2024, take inspiration from Monica L. Miller's 2009 book "Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity," according to Vogue.
