One take on the look is a French tip rendition and many are crediting to Katie Masters(@nailthoughts on Instagram) for inspiration, according to Allure.
In 2019, Masters was an early adapter of the look.
Since posting, Masters' tie-dye tips have gained over 11,000 likes and she continues to inspire other similar looks.

After creating a curved mountain of different stripes of colors, she uses a thin brush to draw thin lines throughout.
