Pop star Sabrina Carpenter delivered one of the 2026 Met Gala's most cinematic fashion moments on Monday, stepping onto the carpet in a custom Christian Dior gown featuring rhinestone-trimmed film strips, as first reported by Vogue.
Designed by Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson, the tulle gown paid homage to the 1954 classic "Sabrina," which starred Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and William Holden.
The gown's rhinestone-embellished film strips -- which included stills from "Sabrina," according to Vogue -- wrapped around Carpenter, transforming the "Short 'n Sweet" singer into a moving reel of cinema history.
Carpenter completed her look with a jeweled headpiece, black platform pumps, and bedazzled strands extending from the back of the dress to her fingers, creating a wing-like effect.
She kept her jewelry simple, wearing her hair in pinned up curls. Her makeup was simple but sultry: a rosy, smoky eye and matching mauve lip.
Fresh off headlining Coachella and now stepping into her role as a member of this year's Met Gala host committee, Carpenter continues to position herself at the intersection of pop culture and performance.
This year marks Carpenter's fourth Met Gala appearance, each of her previous appearances boasting a distinct, memorable aesthetic.
Speaking on the carpet Monday night, Carpenter called her film-inspired look "a dream," crediting Anderson, Dior, and her stylist Jared Ellner for bringing it to life, and adding that it was inspired by one of her favorite films.
