Giving your home a refresh for spring and summer is easier than ever thanks to a multitude of stylish decor launches and sales from stores like Pottery Barn, Anthropologie, Michaels and many more.

To help decide which direction you'd like to take while decorating for 2026, we asked for some expert tips from beloved real-world shopping destination HomeGoods, and its Featured Finders -- experts and creators with all the home decor know-how you need -- offered plenty of smart ways to give your space a stylish, modern feel.

Expert tips for decorating this season

HomeGoods Featured Finders and interior designers The Brownstone Boys, aka Barry Bordelon and Jordan Slocum, had two predictions for 2026 trends: contemporary classicism and naturally elevated.

They describe the first as "a continued shift toward spaces that feel storied and personal," something you can achieve when you "layer history and modernity -- like turned-leg tables or carved frames paired with sculptural lighting, colorful textiles, or abstract art."

For the latter, they consider the continued popularity of natural materials but with "a refined, sculptural update." Think sleek stone and glass pieces, rattan and other woven baskets and handcrafted pottery that adds personality with a soothing feel.

Another HomeGoods Featured Finder, Ursula Caromona, had two more trend predictions to add: a bold take on rich neutrals and color drenching.

While many folks are leaning into bold color schemes, others will remain loyal to their preferred neutral palette, but with a twist, she said.

"In 2026, neutrals are becoming cozy, rich, and full of warmth -- think layered tones that feel grounded yet elevated," she added.

The color drenching trend has expanded "beyond paint and into the realm of furniture, textiles and accents, creating spaces that feel both dramatic and immersive," she said. Adding decor accents, furniture and curtains in similar shades offers a great way to up the ante on your color of choice.
