Sheets

If you're looking for a cost-savings cotton sheet, try the California Design Den Everyday Ease Sateen 400 Queen Sheet Set. While 100% cotton sheets can be pricey, these are less than $50 on Amazon.

"These sheets outperformed others in our Lab tests that cost over $200," Sachs says. "The material is durable and didn’t pill in out tests and also had a smooth feel; testers thought it was luxurious."

Pillows

For a fluffy and allergy-friendly option, shop the Beautyrest Deluxe Down Alternative Pillow with medium firmness designed for all sleep positions. In the lab, this "maintained its shape when we applied pressure, it washed well, and it has a good shape that looks nice inside a pillowcase," Sachs says. Sachs add that you can wash these pillows often, making them ideal for allergy sufferers.

Blanket

"This throw is a great value under $30 and the stylish heathered pattern makes it look more expensive than it is," Sachs says.

"It has this microfiber fabric that gives it a buttery-soft feel and testers loved how it was plush but not too heavy."

Mattress

Sachs says the Sealy Posturepedic Ashurst II 13" Medium Mattress has an "unbeatable value."

It has a "hybrid design that balances comfort and support, combing layers of foam over coils, so you get great pressure relief and comfort that’s not too firm or too soft." It also has reinforced edge support.

Mattress topper

"Mattress toppers are a great way to upgrade the feel of your mattress if you’re not ready to invest in a new one," Sachs says.

The Avocado Eco Organic Mattress Topper adds 2 or 3 inches of height and Good Housekeeping testers "unanimously said their sleep quality improved while using this topper, and said it added softness to beds softer without making it too soft."

Comforter

The Wamsutta Supreme Comfort Down Alternative Comforter is one of the Good Housekeeping award winners, with a down alternative fill and a "cover that makes it silky smooth and quiet so there are no crinkly noises," Sachs says.

"Construction quality is excellent; fill stays evenly distributed so it stays super soft and cozy, but also breathable."

Shop it in three sizes and three weights for your ideal sleep experience.
