Music icon Elton John has launched a new holiday collection with QVC in celebration of its Christmas in July sales event.
John told "Good Morning America" in an email interview that his new advent calendar with candle mogul Harry Slatkin was inspired by the joy and anticipation he felt as a child opening advent calendars.
Elton John shares what he hopes his legacy will be: 'That's all that counts'"I loved advent calendars as a child. The anticipation, the surprise, that sense of daily wonder has always stuck with me," John said. "So, when we dreamed up the candle advent calendar with Slatkin, I wanted to bottle that feeling -- quite literally. Each scent in the calendar is like opening a memory, whether it's cozy nights at home or a bit of festive drama."
John is deeply involved in the creative process behind the line, including selecting scents, packaging and naming each candle.
"I am very hands-on and involved in everything to the very last glittering detail," he said. "I work closely with the Slatkin team on everything, from the fragrance to the name of the box. Whether it is a rich woodsy note or a splash of something unexpected, I want these candles to be just as expressive as I am. And the names? Well, those are often inspired by personal moments or places that mean something to me."
Among the new scents are Pomegranate Wine, Woodside and Spiced Pudding, each holding special meaning for the musician.
"Pomegranate Wine reminds me of winter evenings at home with loved ones. Woodside is inspired by our home in Windsor. The candle has this earthy, woodsy depth that feels grounded," John said. "And Spiced Pudding is just pure nostalgia. It takes me back to the holiday season growing up -- cinnamon, nutmeg, the whole kitchen smelling like heaven."
When asked how he hopes people will feel when lighting his candles, John said, "I want them to be transported to a place of serenity, to pause, smile, and treasure life's most special moments. Whether it is a quiet evening alone or a holiday gathering, I want each scent to spark beautiful memories."
If he had to pick one candle to burn on Christmas Eve, John said it would be Spiced Pudding.
"Nothing feels more like Christmas Eve than warm, delicious treats from the kitchen," he said.
