Kristen's story is one of a young girl growing up on a Minnesota farm in 1854 after arriving with her family from Sweden. She has blonde yarn hair styled into loop braids and tied with blue ribbons, and her rosy cheeks and embroidered features are complemented by her adorable outfit: a calico-print dress, striped apron, knit socks and brown faux-leather boots with laces.
Samantha, rooted in 1904 New York, is characterized by her generosity and "spunk," according to American Girl. She's highly fashionable, with her brown yarn hair styled with a large gingham bow and ponytail braid to complement her multicolored check dress.
Addy is brave, smart and enthusiastic about learning, a trait confirmed by her lore as a spelling bee winner. She's growing up in Philadelphia in 1864, as reflected in her era-appropriate style: a high-neck pink dress with wavy white stripes and embroidered buttons, white drawers, black socks and black faux-leather boots.
Josefina's story takes place in New Mexico, 1824, where she is known for practicing the adage, "Kindness really is the best medicine." Her braided hair is set off by a sprig of yellow felt primroses and a blue ribbon, while a white camisa with puffed short sleeves, a red skirt with black blossom print and lace trim, a brown woven belt, white drawers, and brown boots complete the look.
Molly is described as a "spirited" girl growing up "on the home front in 1944." Her brown hair is styled in pigtails tied with red ribbons, and she dons her signature look of a navy and red argyle-print sweater, a dickey with a white woven collar and navy rickrack trim, a navy-blue skirt, white bloomers, white ankle socks, and black Mary Janes.
