Crayola magnetic cube toys sold at Michaels, Amazon voluntarily recalled

WATCH: Mom warns about dangers of magnets in reusable water balloons after daughter’s injury

Thousands of Crayola-branded magnetic building cube toys are being voluntarily recalled due to a risk of the magnets getting swallowed, which can lead to possible injury or even death.

CreateOn, the importer of approximately 9,400 Crayola-branded magnetic building cube toys, announced the recall this week, with the Consumer Product Safety Commission sharing the announcement on its website Dec. 4.

The magnetic building cubes, called Crayola pip-Cubes, have magnets, which the CPSC notes "can become loose if the seams separate, posing an ingestion hazard to children."

No injuries or incidents have been reported so far, according to the agency.

"When high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract to each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system. This can result in perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning and death," the CPSC warns.

The recalled CreateOn Crayola-branded pip-Cubes were made in China, sold in sets of 24 or 27 cubes, and are part of the "Bold Colors" or "Glitter pip-Cubes" collections.

The "Bold Colors" cubes are red, green, blue and yellow, while the "Glitter pip-Cubes" have glitter on them and are purple, pink, blue and green, according to the CPSC. Each pip-Cube has the word "Crayola" imprinted on the left side.

A list of recalled pip-Cubes and their model numbers and UPC numbers can be found on the CPSC and CreateOn websites.

Recalled pip-Cubes sets retailed for about $20 to $35 between May and July this year. The recalled items were sold through Amazon's website, at Michaels stores across the U.S. and on Michaels store websites.

Anyone with recalled pip-Cubes should stop using them and take them away from children, according to the CPSC. Consumers can reach out to CreateOn for a replacement set of pip-Cubes.

CreateOn will also provide a pre-paid mailing label to return any recalled cubes, according to the CPSC.

When reached by ABC News, a Crayola spokesperson confirmed the recalled pip-Cubes are Crayola-licensed products manufactured by CreateOn and said consumers should follow the instructions provided by CreateOn and the CPSC.

In a statement to ABC News on Friday, a CreateOn spokesperson said, "CreateOn takes product safety very seriously, and we are fully cooperating with the CPSC on this voluntary recall. We have implemented all required actions, including notifying consumers, updating our website with recall instructions, and working with our retail partners to remove affected product from shelves."

The spokesperson directed consumers to the CPSC announcement and company recall page "for the most accurate, up to date information."
