This mom and 'Game of Thrones' superfan named her daughter Khaleesi

Katherine Acosta and her husband Rubio never miss a Sunday night airing of HBO's "Game of Thrones."

So when Acosta was expecting twins, there was no question that she'd pay homage to her favorite show on TV when deciding on names.

"People were looking at me like I was crazy, but I didn't care. I love it. Khaleesi Acosta sounds so perfect," Acosta of Houston, Texas, told "Good Morning America." "It just stuck out to me."

On March 19, 2018, the Acostas welcomed a baby girl and named her Khaleesi, after the famed Mother of Dragons from the popular fantasy drama. A twin boy was to be named Ruben Rubio Acosta Jr.

In 2017, Acosta suffered a miscarriage. She was placed on bed rest and her best friend convinced her to watch "Game of Thrones" ("GOT") to help pass the time.

Acosta ultimately recovered and became pregnant with the twins.

Khaleesi Acosta, 1, was named after the character Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO fshow, "Game of Thrones."

"At that point I was already rubbing my belly and calling her Khaleesi," Acosta said.

But when Acosta reached the 27th week of her pregnancy, she sadly lost her son, Ruben.

Acosta said her daughter stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where many of the nurses were "GOT" fans. One nurse even made her a special identification tag with a hand-drawn portrait of Daenerys Targaryen -- aka Khaleesi.

"Maybe it was the hormones but I loved Khaleesi -- then she lost her baby," Acosta said of the similarities between her and the character. "Seeing her evolve as a character, she doesn't let anyone step on her. She's overcome so much."

Acosta said more "GOT" baby names could be in her family's future but for now, she'll stick with themed birthday parties -- like Khaleesi's first birthday party.
