A little boy's touching reaction to seeing his mother and grandmother in the audience during a Christmas performance at his preschool has captured the hearts of millions on social media.

Mariam Silver recorded her 4-year-old son Asher's reaction and shared it in a Dec. 10 TikTok video that has since gone viral, with over 85 million views so far.

In the brief clip, Asher can be seen standing onstage, looking around and toward the audience. When Asher notices his mom and grandmother, his eyes light up, and he bursts into a wide smile and waves enthusiastically in the direction of the camera.

"I didn't expect him to be like that," Silver told ABC News, adding that she "teared up" after seeing the "cute" reaction.

Silver explained that she had called out to Asher because she noticed him searching audience. She said she filmed the moment because Asher's father, her husband, was not able to attend the performance due to work.

"Proof that showing up matters," Silver wrote in text overlaid in the video, describing it in the caption as "the sweetest moment ever."

Silver's post drew tens of thousands of comments, with many TikTok users agreeing with her sentiments.

"This is why I'm taking off work early today. to go see my babies perform in their christmas concert today đź’• because showing up matters," one commenter wrote. "I'm at every game. every concert. every event they go to."

Another TikTok user wrote, "Showing up matters more to a kid than anything else in the world."
