US Soccer players helped design new World Cup jerseys: What to know about the kit

U.S. Soccer will sport a bold new unified look, designed with the players for peak on-pitch performance at the first FIFA Men's World Cup hosted in the United States in 32 years.

The new 2026 U.S. Soccer National Team kits were unveiled by Nike and U.S. Soccer on Monday in two distinct looks -- a stars kit and a stripes kit -- which will be worn across all 27 National Teams from youth to seniors under a shared visual identity and crest.

The USMNT shared input with Nike in design workshops and listening sessions on everything from the weight of the fabric to fit, mobility and seam placement, ensuring the jerseys were "built to perform in the high-intensity conditions expected during the summer World Cup," U.S. Soccer said in the press release.

The vibrant red and white waved stripe jersey, visually reminiscent of a waving American flag, has navy blue trim on the collar and sleeves with a Nike swoosh on the right and the lightweight raised silicone USA crest over the left side of the chest.

The more subtle navy blue jersey has a repeating star pattern with red piping that wraps from the shoulders to the side, a metallic silver USA crest and a matching Nike swoosh.

Both kits are made with Nike's high-performance AERO-FIT construction.

The collection was made with unique design details, such as an "Inner Pride" mark inside the collar, which the organization said symbolizes "the internal motivation players carry onto the field and reflects the federation's 'The Best of U.S.' ethos."

"For the first time, U.S. Soccer has also developed fully bespoke number and font typefaces, the Stars and Stripes fonts, created exclusively for the federation and designed to appear across the new kits and for many more years to come," U.S. Soccer stated.

As the U.S. prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ronnie J. Stewart, global product director for Nike, said that with both options, there's something for everyone.

"If you want to be loud and proud and represent the crest, no one's going to doubt who you're there for in the light kit. If you’re looking for that lifestyle look that works off the field, the dark is for you," he said of the more subtle navy stars kit.

"A national team jersey represents the pride of wearing the crest, not just for players on the field, but also for the fans who support them every step of the way," Dave Wright, chief commercial officer of U.S. Soccer, said.

For fans ready to sport the team's new look, both jerseys are available in two versions at different price points. The authentic match jersey, which features the same tech fabric as the players', costs $180, and the stadium jersey that comes in a relaxed Dri-FIT material with embroidered crest starts at $100 for a more accessible price point.

Later this spring, Nike and U.S. Soccer will introduce a streetwear-inspired line to the collaboration.

This is the most widely available kit release in U.S. Soccer history, with jerseys on sale online through Soccer.com and at nearly 2,500 retailers such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Rally House and Scheels.

The USMNT will debut the new jerseys in a friendly against Belgium at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on March 28 before their first match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 12.
