Babe, wake up. Sarah J. Maas just revealed that two new "ACOTAR" books are on the way.
In a highly anticipated interview for romantasy book lovers, the bestselling author of the "A Court of Thorns and Roses" book series revealed that the story will continue with books six and seven.
"It's been a long time coming," Maas told Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper in a new episode released Wednesday night. "It's something that took me a long time to write, just because there were enough things going on in my life that I had to sort through."
While Maas didn't share what those details were, she said that she would talk about it later one day.
On that note, the author said that "ACOTAR" book six will arrive on Oct. 27, while "ACOTAR" book seven will arrive on January 12, 2027.
Maas didn't share a ton of details about what to expect in her upcoming novels in the series, and also didn't reveal much when talking about the length of each book.
"It's tricky to talk about the length of this book ... because this book's coming out Oct. 27 and then on Jan. 12," she said, adding: "So there will be two books within a very short span."
She also spoke about the writing process saying, "The story that was finally ready to come out of me was big. Really, really big. And as I started writing this in like this Montana energy vortex, it came out of me in a way that surprised me."
"By the time I got to, like, the end of the part one, it was, like, 400 pages long," she added. "But what I was writing felt right. That was the story that needed to be told."
Maas said what resulted for the next part of the series was a part one that consisted of 1,000 pages. She said because of this, she's decided to release the next part of the "ACOTAR" series in three parts.
Part one will be the book released in October, while parts two and three will be the book out in January 2027.
"Part four has yet to be written," she said.
She added, "I've never told a story this way. This is how it wants to come out. Why do I have to be held back by the realities of the glue that we need to hold the pages or just like placement on a shelf?"
Maas said that releasing the next parts of the series in this unique way is "exciting to me" and that it "gives me space that the story demanded and the characters demanded."
The author introduced the first "ACOTAR" book to the world in May 2015. It follows 19-year-old huntress Feyre, who is taken to a magical land by a beast-like creature, who she comes to learn is Tamlin, described as a lethal, immortal faerie, according to a synopsis for the book.
"Her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae," the synopsis adds.
Following "ACOTAR," "A Court of Mist and Fury" was released in 2016, then "A Court of Wings and Ruin" in 2017, and "A Court of Frost and Starlight" in 2018.
"A Court of Silver Flames" was released in February 2021.
"The most important thing for me is to write these stories the way they need to be told but to also honor my fans who make all this possible," Maas said.
