'Regretting You' is coming soon to theaters: Here's everything to know about the film

"Regretting You" is the next book-to-film adaptation from bestselling author Colleen Hoover.

The upcoming Josh Boone-directed film follows Hoover's previous book to film adaptation, "It Ends With Us," which starred Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who also directed the film.

The film's official Instagram page announced that the trailer for "Regretting You" will arrive on Tuesday.

What is 'Regretting You' about?

"Regretting You" is based on Hoover's 2019 novel of the same name.

Regretting You" follows the strained relationship between a mother named Morgan Grant and her 16-year-old daughter, Clara, according to a synopsis for the novel.

When Morgan's husband and Clara's father, Chris, is involved in a tragic accident, Morgan "finds comfort in the last person she expects to" while Clara "turns to the one boy she's forbidden to see," the synopsis adds.

Who is starring in 'Regretting You'?

"Regretting You" will star Allison Williams, McKenna Grace, Dave Franco and Mason Thames.

Scott Eastwood and Willa Fitzgerald will also star in the film.

In December 2024, Grace spoke with "Good Morning America" at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Los Angeles and confirmed she will be portraying Clara Grant and Thames will be playing Miller, the aforementioned "boy she's forbidden to see."

"I'm jazzed," she said. "I play Clara and I'm so excited because a really good friend of mine, Mason Thames, is playing Miller."

She added, "It's a love story, but it's also about a mother and a daughter and the way that they're dealing with their grief."

How did McKenna Grace react to the script?

Grace said the story about a mother and daughter was what touched her most and drew her to the film.

"It was the story of the mom and the daughter and the way that they're working through their grief together," she said.

"My character has a lot of anger toward herself and toward her mother," she added. "I think it's beautiful to watch her through that and end up growing closer together."

When will 'Regretting You' be released?

"Regretting You" will arrive in theaters on Oct. 24.

What other Colleen Hoover books are getting the film treatment?

"Regretting You" is one of several books from Hoover being adapted for the big screen.

Also getting the film treatment are Hoover's 2022 novel "Reminders of Him" and Hoover's 2018 book, "Verity."
