Three-time Grammy Award winner Pink will host the 2026 Tony Awards, the singer-songwriter announced this week.
The artist made the announcement Thursday on Instagram, in a joint post with the Tony Awards.
"When I was asked to host @thetonyawards, my first question was -- don't you need to have been on Broadway for this? So I went ahead and fixed that. Kind of. And now I'm hosting the Tony Awards!!" Pink wrote.
A video shared in the post shows Pink backstage at a Broadway show, surreptitiously sneaking one leg onto the stage as a producer attempts to usher her away from the performance.
"Now I've been on Broadway. Now I can host the Tonys," she says in the video.
Her caption continued, "The Broadway community is the hardest working in showbiz. They show up every single night, sometimes twice, and make absolute magic."
She added, "I cannot wait to celebrate them all with you on Sunday June 7th on CBS."
Pink then thanked the Broadway production of "The Great Gatsby" musical for allowing her to "share the stage, even just for a moment."
The 79th Tony Awards are slated for June 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The show will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
Pink joins a distinguished list of Tonys hosts, with past hosts including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana DeBose, Hugh Jackman, Audra McDonald, Leslie Odom Jr., James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris, Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming.
In a statement included in a release announcing this week's news, Pink said, "When I was asked to host the Tonys, I immediately thought, 'I have to get permission from my daughter.'"
She added, "She was really excited about being able to have a ticket to go to the Tonys, so I'm hosting the Tonys and I'm really, really, excited and very nervous because that girl is a tough crowd!"
In a separate statement included in the release, the show's producers, Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall, and Jack Sussman, said, "We are thrilled to welcome the incomparable P!NK as the host of this year's Tony Awards -- a fearless artist whose powerhouse voice, electrifying stage presence, and undeniable authenticity embody the very spirit of live performance and theatre."
The "Just Give Me a Reason" singer dropped her ninth studio album "Trustfall" in 2023. She also appeared on Dolly Parton's 2023 "Rockstar" album, joining forces with Parton and Brandi Carlile on a cover of the Rolling Stones song "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."
