Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan welcomes baby girl

WATCH: New report shows rise in women having babies in their 40s

Michelle Kwan is a mom of two.

Christmas came early for the retired Olympic figure skater and diplomat, 45, who revealed on her official Instagram page Thursday that she recently welcomed a baby girl named Della Rose Kwan.

Kwan, who is already a mom to daughter Kalista Belle, whom she welcomed in 2022, said that her heart "doubled in an instant" when she held her new baby for the first time.

The former U.S. ambassador to Belize also shared that seeing her eldest daughter meet her new sibling "brought tears to my eyes."

"I've always dreamt of having children, and when Kalista came into the world, I was already beyond grateful for a miracle that once felt impossible after years of trying," she wrote in the caption of a post. "Getting here again has been its own rollercoaster, and I'm endlessly thankful for my love, who I'm so lucky to share my life with, my family, who I would not be here without, and the incredible doctors and support team who helped make this miracle happen."

She added that "after more than a decade of hoping, I still can't quite believe this moment is real."

Kwan wrote that as a former Olympian, she was no stranger to pushing her body "to its limits," but said that "carrying another life has left me in even greater awe" of its capabilities.

"There were moments of frustration over how little I could control -- a humbling reminder that fertility is something none of us can fully predict," she wrote.

Kwan ended her post by sharing a message to other moms dealing with infertility or those "praying to build a family."

"To all the moms, moms-to-be, and the women and families dealing with infertility or praying to build a family -- I know what you're going through and I'm hoping you feel loved and supported in every way as you navigate this journey," she concluded.

Fellow figure skaters including Tara Lipinski, Adam Rippon, and Mirai Nagasu, as well as Olympians including Ibtihaj Muhammad, Allyson Felix and more, congratulated Kwan in the comments of her post.

"Congratulations friend!! Beyond excited for you!" Felix wrote.

Lipinski left congratulations as well, adding, "I'm so happy for you and your family!"

Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also celebrated Kwan's new addition in the comments, writing simply, "Congrats, my friend," along with a heart-hands emoji.
