Ciara celebrates being a woman of color in her new track, “Melanin,” which she debuted Friday and features Lupita Nyong’o, City Girls, La La Anthony and the song’s producer, Ester Dean.
"Hooked up with my girls @lupitanyongo @EsterDean @thegirljt @yungmiami305 @CityGirls and @LaLa to celebrate all my #Melanin Queens around the world,” the Grammy winner commented as she posted the track on Instagram. “This song is for you!”
The track already has the approval of Ciara’s two-and-half-year old daughter, Sienna, whom she calls Si Si.

Ciara hosts the American Music Awards Sunday night, and she's looking forward to a show that will celebrate female empowerment.

It’s a lot of girl power happening for this night and it’s always fun to be in the room with them. I get excited more than anything."
Ciara promises some surprises on the show -- could there be a “Melanin” performance featuring special guests?
The 2019 American Music Awards airs live from Los Angeles Sunday, Nov. 24, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
