The songwriters behind "Golden" of the hit animated film "KPop Demon Hunters" won the Golden Globe for best original song.
Accepting the award were Kim Eun-jae (EJAE), Mark Sonnenblick and their co-songwriters.
EJAE spoke first, highlighting her journey to make it in K-pop.
"When I was a little girl I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fulfill one dream, to become a K-pop idol, and I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn't good enough and so I leaned on songs and music to get through it, so now I'm here as a singer and a songwriter," she said.
She went on, "It's a dream come true to be part of a song that's helping other girls and other boys and everyone of all ages to get through their hardships, to accept themselves."
"So thank you Golden Globes for accepting my voice and our voice," she added.
Sonnenblick, who co-wrote the song with EJAE, thanked Netflix, Sony and everybody who "believed in and ushered this movie."
He added, "It's been an amazing year for musical storytelling in movies. We're honored to be here amongst all these other movies and songs."
At the end of their speech, EJAE dedicated the Golden Globe win to "people who have had doors closed on them."
"I can confidently say rejection is redirection," she said. "So never give up, it's never too late to shine like you were born to be."
"Golden" sat atop the Hot 100 list for eight weeks from mid-August through mid-October, according to Billboard, and currently reigns over the Billboard Global 200, where it has held its No. 1 ranking for 14 straight weeks.
The song serves as an anthem for "KPop Demon Hunters."
"We wrote it so fast," EJAE told "Good Morning America" in September, adding that the song's lyrics "gonna be, gonna be golden" also "came out super fast."
"I learned so much during 'KPop Demon Hunters.' It really helped me grow as a singer and as a writer," she added.
In addition to winning the Golden Globe for best original song, "KPop Demon Hunters" took home the Golden Globe for best motion picture (animated).
Going into the 2026 Golden Globes, "KPop Demon Hunters" was also nominated for cinematic and box office achievement.
The film follows fictional K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey of the group HUNTR/X, who use their secret identities as demon hunters to protect their fans from a supernatural threat, according to a logline for the film. Voicing the characters behind the K-pop superstars in the film are Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo, respectively.
The song also earned Grammy nominations for song of the year and best pop duo/group performance.
The song is performed by artists EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the singing voices behind the film's fictional K-pop group, HUNTR/X.
