Jamie Lee Curtis teases 4-way switch plot twist in 'Freakier Friday'

After years of Jamie Lee Curtis fielding hypothetical questions about a "Freaky Friday" sequel, the star of the hit Disney movie helped make "Freakier Friday" a reality alongside her on-screen daughter and real-life friend, Lindsay Lohan.

"I was determined to make it happen because everywhere in the world I go for other work, all they want to talk about is Lindsay -- and "Freaky Friday,'" Curtis said in an interview Monday on "Good Morning America,” alongside Lohan.

Curtis and Lohan first co-starred in the original movie in 2003, but their characters’ mother-daughter chemistry is now stronger than ever.

"When we started, it felt like it was just yesterday, because we've known each other for so long and we're friends off-screen," Lohan said. "That's the beauty of being able to make 'Freakier Friday,' you don't too often get to work with people that you genuinely love and are your friends. So it didn't feel like work as it normally did."

"I've known her since she was 15. We've stayed friends all the way through her teens and her twenties," Curtis added.

The unique plot twist in this movie mimics that of original, when Lohan's character Anna and Curtis' character Tess switched bodies by an unfortunate turn of fate from a fortune cookie.

"It's a four-way switch," Curtis said. "Lindsay's character Anna, the music producer, is engaged to be married to a young man named Eric. He happens to have a 15-year-old daughter and Anna has a 15-year-old daughter named Harper. The soon-to-be sisters don't get along very well."

"And Tess is still micromanaging me as a mother," Lohan chimed in.

"I'm not gonna tell you who switches with who," Curtis teased.

"Freakier Friday" premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles earlier this month and hits theaters nationwide on Aug. 8.
