James Van Der Beek celebrates Halloween in style with wife, kids

James Van Der Beek and his family are sharing a spooky look at their Halloween celebration.

The actor's wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, took to Instagram to share a family photo over the weekend of their family dressed in a wide array of Halloween costumes, including James Van Der Beek in a "Phantom of the Opera" mask.

"Happy Halloween!!!!" wrote Van Der Beek's wife in the post's caption of.

Van Der Beek, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2023, stood in the background of the photo sporting a tuxedo and white face mask made famous by the hit Broadway musical.

Famous followers of Kimberly Van Der Beek reacted the family costumes in the comment section, with Ricki Lake and Sasha Farber cheering on the group.

James Van Der Beek shared a behind-the-scenes look at the family's celebration in a video posted to his Instagram story.

"Halloween hack. I can't believe it took me this long to figure this out. Golf carts. I got little kiddos. I am not carrying them right now," said Van Der Beek as he drove his kids around the neighborhood.

Van Der Beek shared his colorectal cancer diagnosis publicly in November of last year, writing on Instagram at the time that he was "getting treatment and dialing in my overall health with greater focus than ever before."

In December, Van Der Beek spoke to "Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts in his first live television interview since announcing his diagnosis.

"Physically, I'm great. I'm feeling really good emotionally. You know, it's a lot," he said at the time. "It's really a ride."

In September 2025, the "Dawson's Creek" star appeared via video at a "Dawson's Creek" charity event that was staged in support of F Cancer and Van Der Beek.

Van Der Beek and his wife are parents of six children: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn and Jeremiah.
