Hoosiers' star quarterback Fernando Mendoza speaks out after declaring for NFL draft

WATCH: Headlines from ABC News Live

Indiana Hoosiers' star quarterback Fernando Mendoza is officially entering the NFL draft, according to a Friday morning announcement he shared on LinkedIn.

The Heisman winner told "Good Morning America" on Friday that getting selected by any pro team would be "a dream come true."

"If I was drafted by any team, I'd be so grateful," Mendoza said. "It would be a dream come true from a two-star recruit."

The news comes four days after the Hoosiers defeated the University of Miami Hurricanes 27 to 21 to win the championship title.

"We never expected to win the national championship ... so having that belief in ourselves and then finally winning it, we made sure to party hard after," Mendoza said. "So the sleep has not let it sunk in yet, however, it is slowly, slowly sinking in, and we're all very happy."

In addition to focusing on football, Mendoza, a graduate student at Indiana, also fundraises for the National MS Society, an initiative he created with his brothers in honor of their mother, who lives with multiple sclerosis.

"My mother, she fights hard every day. She's the toughest warrior that I know," Mendoza said. "So we partnered with the National MS Society, and we're on our way [to] our goal to reach $250,000 right now."

"I just can't thank Indiana fandom enough, anybody that's donated, and just all this overwhelming support that we're getting as a family," he added.
