Will Ferrell's sons recreated a beloved scene from one of their dad's most equally beloved films.
Magnus Ferrell, the eldest son of the legendary comic actor, shared a video on social media last week featuring his brother, Mattias Ferrell, as the pair mimicked their dad and Zooey Deschanel's famous shower-singing scene from the 2003 film comedy "Elf."
In the holiday classic, Zooey Deschanel sings the popular holiday song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" while, unbeknownst to Deschanel, Ferrell's title character, Buddy, waits outside the shower and sings along to the tune in a duet style.
In Magnus Ferrell's social media video, he stands shirtless in the shower mouthing the words to the song as the film scene plays audibly. Mattias Ferrell recreates his dad's role, listening to his brother elsewhere in the bathroom and singing along on the toilet.
A wide shot then shows both brothers – one showering, one sitting – singing along to the tune.
Just like in the film, the showering brother hears his bathroom companion as the song peaks with a loud note, and then peeks his head out of the shower in confusion.
Magnus Ferrell captioned the post, "tis the season am I right? @MattiasFerrell #ELF #BabyItsColdOutside #ChristmasMusic."
In the actual scene from the comedy, Ferrell's Buddy sings the duet with Deschanel, with whom Ferrell is enchanted, before being caught singing with her as he naively sits on a sink outside the shower.
"Elf" hit theaters in 2003 to widespread popular approval and earned $220.4 million worldwide, and has added close to another $10 million since, for a total global box office take of $230.2 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
Ferrell has three children with his wife, Viveca Paulin: Magnus Ferrell, Mattias Paulin Ferrell, and Axel Ferrell. All three sons have supported their dad at his various film premieres over the years
This isn't the first time Magnus Ferrell has referenced his dad on social media. In a social media post last year, he called out his dad in a hilarious prom story, sharing an image of himself first with onscreen text that read, "Rating things my dad has done."
Then, in a second slide, he revealed a throwback photo of him with his dad, in which the "Anchorman" actor is seen wearing a medieval costume.
"Dressed as a medieval lord to embarrass me at prom 10000/10," he wrote in the post.
