Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts talks 2025 NFL outlook, married life and new Wheaties box

WATCH: Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts talks upcoming season

As the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles prepare to kickoff the 2025 NFL season against their NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys, the team's star quarterback Jalen Hurts said they're bringing "focus and discipline" to the highly-anticipated opener and gave a glimpse into what he's been up to this offseason.

"On these first games, there are a lotta different things that you don't know -- so regardless of the opponent, it's about playing clean football and just being on the same page. It's the ultimate team game," Hurts told "Good Morning America" in an exclusive interview Thursday.

The Super Bowl LIX MVP said that their big win over the Kansas City Chiefs is "in the past, and it's something that will not help me accomplish anything in this upcoming season."

"When I really, really think about it competitively, you know, the drive is always gonna be there and the passion is always gonna be there," he continued. "And the desire to grow is always gonna be there."

While Hurts understands that fans are hungry for a back-to-back title, he said "certain things come into reality, but as a player, you take it one game at a time."

Hurts and the team have put in work in the offseason, training around the clock.

"Passion is one thing that will always have to be there for you to do something that you love," he said. "It'll have to be the reflection of all the late nights and early mornings, the time invested, the equity put in."

But he's also taken time to recharge and feel fresh for a new season.

"I had some time to myself, had some time to my family. I had the opportunity to take charge of what's to come," he explained. "It's a very, very rigorous grind -- you play for a while and you're playing into the Super Bowl and you're playing for championship games. That means your seasons are longer and your breaks are shorter."

Hurts added another new title of husband in the offseason after he and Bryonna Burrows tied the knot earlier this spring.

"You know where your strength comes from. You know where your rock is. And those are the things that always give you encouragement anytime you step into something," he said of being married.

Back on the gridiron this season, the Eagles will be reprising their well-known short-yardage offensive play "tush push" where the quarterback gets pushed from behind by his teammates to gain a first down or touchdown, despite a potential ban by the NFL for safety concerns.

"We do such a really good job of it. It's something we've kinda began and it stuck with us and I think every team has that one thing that makes them unique," Hurts explained. "it's something that kinda began here -- you can do different things to kinda create a splash in the game. And that just so happened to be ours."

All of Hurts work -- both on and off the field -- has led him to being featured on a new limited-edition Wheaties box, an iconic recognition for athletes of the top caliber.

"It wasn't even about the cereal. It was about what it represented," Hurts said. "I can't tell you that I ever dreamed of being on a Wheaties box I looked at when I woke up in the mornings and ate cereal. It's just something that kinda came into fruition because of those icons that I followed after."

General Mills first created its slogan, "The Breakfast of Champions," and paired it with the bright orange Wheaties boxes in 1934. Influential athletes -- from Lou Gherig and Jesse Williams to Michael Jordan and Serena Williams -- have also been featured.

"This is very nostalgic to me. It's very nostalgic just thinkin' about my childhood and the icons that have graced the box," he said. "So to represent it now, it's something."

The new Wheaties box featuring Hurts hits store shelves in November.

The Cowboys kickoff on Thursday night at the Eagles at 8:20 pm ET.
