Amy Schumer has announced that she and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, are ending their marriage after more than seven years together.
The comedian and actor shared the news in an Instagram post on Friday alongside a photo of herself and Fischer riding the New York City subway.
In true Schumer fashion, the announcement mixed humor with honesty, as she confirmed the decision while making it clear the split was amicable.
"Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years," Schumer wrote, adding that the two "love each other very much" and will remain focused on raising their son together.
She also asked for privacy as they navigate the transition, while jokingly shutting down any speculation about the reasons behind the breakup.
Schumer emphasized that the decision had nothing to do with physical changes or Fischer's continued success and appeal, noting that the separation comes with "all love and respect" and a commitment to remaining family. "Family forever," she concluded.
The pair were first linked romantically in 2017 and married in February 2018.
In May 2019, the couple welcomed their son, Gene.
