"I just think it's a great way for people to meet," she admitted, adding that it's become harder to "meet anyone in the real world."

The 44-year-old continued, "I'll go to an in-person event and no one's really engaged. They're sort of in their phones, and it's a bit discouraging."

"Sometimes you do meet people out in the real world, and I certainly have, and it's been wonderful," she said, "but I think that [online dating is] just a really nice way for people to meet."

"The Baby-Sitters Club" star said dating apps have always "intrigued" her, adding, "I always thought it sounded so fascinating. I've heard tons of beautiful stories from people. I think it's very much the norm now. And it makes sense. It's kind of like going to a bar, but it's more effective."

Silverstone also revealed some of her rules while on dates, explaining, "I don't drink on dates. And if you don't like them suddenly you like them because you're drinking! New rules: No alcohol until I already know I like you."

The "Batman & Robin" star was previously married to musician Christopher Jarecki from 2005 to 2018. The two share a son, 10-year-old Bear Blu.
